국가산단 R&D지구 내 연면적 5619㎡, 지상 3층, 지하 1층 규모의 ‘자율주행 융합지원센터’는 중소·중견기업 지원, 자율주행 데이터 실증 연구, 자율주행 부품 시험, 자동차산업 빅데이터를 수집·분석·제공으로 자율주행 자동차의 연구개발·실증을 위한 컨트롤타워 역할을 한다.

자율주행차 실증을 위한 도로 시설은 수성알파시티, 테크노폴리스, 대구국가산단, 달성2차산업단지 일대 총 150㎞ 이상의 시가지 간선 도로다.

노변장치, 돌발상황 검지기, 기상관측장비 등을 설치하고 자율 주행융합지원센터와 차량정보, 도로정보, 노면정보 등을 상호 공유해 안전 운행 검증, 자율주행시스템 및 차량 부품별 성능 평가, 주행상황별 차량 동작 정보 등을 수집·분석할 수 있다.

향후 시험·인증을 위한 인프라 구축 확대, 자율주행 융합지원센터 운영으로 자율주행 상용화 전주기 지원을 한 번에 할 수 있는 환경을 구현해 자율주행차 선도도시 조성에 앞장설 계획이다.
