【브레이크뉴스 대구 】이성현 기자=25일 저녁 대구 북구의 농수산물도매시장인 매천시장에서 대규모 화재가 발생한 데 대하여 지역 정치권은 26일 긴급하게 성명을 내고, 신속한 수습과 재발방지 및 인명피해 최소화를 주문했다.

영남지역 최대 농수산물 도매시장인 매천시장에서 불이 난 것은 25일 저녁 8시 27분경이다. 과일 도매상 밀집 지역이다보니 종이상자 및 스티로플 포장 박스등이 산적해 있어 불길은 삽시간에 한 동을 거의 다 태우고 불이 난 지 3시간이 넘어서야 잡혔다. 

이 불로 A 동 90% 가량이 전소됐고 판매를 위해 쌓아놓은 과일이며 각종 농수산물들이 불길에 휩싸여 상품성을 잃었다. 

다행히 현재까지 인명피해는 없는 것으로 알려졌다. 대구시와 소방당국은 신속한 화재 진압과 더불어 불이 난 사고 경위 파악에 돌입했다. 매천시장은 시설이 노후화되어 그렇잖아도 이전 및 현대화작업을 예고 하고 있었다.

26일 국민의힘 대구시당과 더불어민주당 대구시당은 긴급하게 이 소식을 전하면서 인명피해 및 재발방지를 위한 대구시의 특단의 대책을 주문했다. 

국민의힘 대구시당은 “나라 안팎으로 가뜩이나 어려운 경제 여건에서 내일의 희망을 안고 살아가는 소상공인들의 소중한 일터가 한순간 화재로 날아가 버리는 허망한 상황에 안타까운 마음을 금할 길 없다.”며 “소방 및 관계 당국의 수습 총력과 화재 발생 경위의 철저한 조사와 재발방지 노력”을 당부했다. 그러면서 복구에 힘을 보태겠다고 전했다.

더불어민주당 대구시장은 화재 발생 직후 긴급 성명을 냈다. 때문에 수습과 사고 경위보다는 인명 피해 상황 체크를 당부했다. 그러면서 “불길이 잡히면 상황 파악을 정확하게 하고 조속한 시일 내 도매시장은 정상으로 돌아가야 한다”며 “대구시의 지원이나 행정 지도의 소홀함이 없도록 해 달라”고 요청했다.
