【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=전국 최초로 제조창업 전 과정을 메타버스 공간에서 구현하는 공동 작업 공간인 ‘메타-메이커스페이스’가 6일 포항 체인지업그라운드에서 문을 열었다.

6일, 경상북도에 따르면 이날 개소식에는 김무환 포항공대 총장, 김병욱 국회의원, 손희권 도의원, 경북도 청년정책관 등이 참석해 ‘메타-메이커스페이스’ 의 개소를 축하했다.

‘메타-메이커스페이스’는 올해 4월 중소벤처기업부 공모사업에 전문랩으로 선정된 후 중소벤처기업부와 경북도, 포스텍 등이 함께 참여해 구축했으며 3년간 최대 25억원의 국비를 지원받게 된다.

‘메타-메이커스페이스’는 포스텍 체인지업그라운드 외 2개 공간에서 전문장비를 활용한 메이커 교육 및 시제품 제작 등을 수행하고 있다.

특히, 메타버스를 활용한 메이커스페이스가 실현되면 작업 공간을 직접 방문하지 않고도 메타버스를 통해 다양한 제조장비 교육과 시제품 테스트 등이 가능해져 지역 전역의 창업기업을 지원할 수 있게 된다.

김무환 포항공대 총장은“포스텍 메타-메이커스페이스가 창업을 희망하는 학생들의 아이디어를 구체화해 우수한 제품생산이 가능하고 경쟁력 있는 창업기업으로 성장할 수 있게끔 지원해주는 공간으로 거듭날 수 있도록 적극 돕겠다”고 말했다.

메이커스페이스 구축‧운영사업은 시제품 제작·양산 등 제조 창업의 촉진과 창의적 아이디어의 구현을 위해 중소벤처기업부에서 2018년부터 실시한 공모사업이다.

현재 전국에 전문랩 30개소, 일반랩 204개소가 구축·선정돼 지원받고 있으며 경북도는 ‘포스텍 메타-메이커스페이스’를 포함해 전문랩 2개소 및 일반랩 9개소가 구축·운영 중에 있다.

경북도는 내년에도 혁신적인 창업문화 생태계 구축을 위해 공모에 참여해 추가 선정될 수 있도록 노력할 계획이다.

장미정 경북도 청년정책관은“오늘 개소하는 메타-메이커스페이스가 지역 전역의 창업기업들을 뒷받침하는 든든한 교두보 역할을 해주길 바란다”며, “도 역시 창업을 꿈꾸는 학생들과 도민이 창업의 어려움을 극복하고 성공적인 스타트업 기업으로 성장할 수 있도록 적극적으로 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

The nation’s first ‘Meta-Maker Space’, a co-working space that implements the entire process of starting a manufacturing business in a metaverse space, opened on the 6th at Change Up Ground in Pohang.

According to Gyeongsangbuk-do, POSTECH President Kim Moo-hwan, National Assembly member Kim Byeong-wook, provincial council member Son Hee-kwon, and Gyeongbuk-do Youth Policy Officer attended the opening ceremony to celebrate the opening of the 'Meta-Makerspace'.

‘Meta-Maker Space’ was selected as a professional lab for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ contest in April of this year, and was built with the participation of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, North Gyeongsang Province, and POSTECH, and will receive up to 2.5 billion won in government funding for three years.

‘Meta-Maker Space’ conducts maker education and prototype production using professional equipment in POSTECH’s Change Upground and two other spaces.

In particular, if a makerspace using the metaverse is realized, various manufacturing equipment training and prototype testing will be possible through the metaverse without having to visit the work space in person, enabling start-ups throughout the region to be supported.

POSTECH President Moo-Hwan Kim said, “We will actively help POSTECH Meta-Makerspace become a space that supports students who want to start a business by materializing their ideas so that they can produce excellent products and grow into competitive start-ups.”

The makerspace construction and operation project is a public contest conducted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups since 2018 to promote manufacturing start-ups such as prototype production and mass production and to realize creative ideas.

Currently, 30 specialized labs and 204 general labs have been established and selected across the country and are receiving support. In Gyeongbuk-do, 2 specialized labs and 9 general labs are being built and operated, including the ‘POSTECH Meta-Makerspace’.

Gyeongsangbuk-do plans to participate in the contest next year to establish an innovative startup culture ecosystem and make efforts to be selected additionally.

Jang Mi-jeong, director of youth policy in North Gyeongsang Province, said, “I hope that the meta-makerspace that will be opened today will serve as a strong bridgehead to support start-ups across the region.” We will actively support it so that it can grow into a business company.”
