30일, 대구시에 따르면 최근 코로나19로 인한 사망자 증가와 함께 환절기 고령 사망자까지 느는 계절적 요인으로 화장수요가 급격히 증가해 장례를 치르는 유족들은 4일장 또는 5일장을 치르는 경우가 많아 화장수요 폭증에 따른 시민 불편 해소를 위해 명복공원 화장시설 가동률을 늘리는 긴급대책을 마련했다.

명복공원 화장시설은 최초 1회차(07:00~08:40)부터 마지막 10회차(15:20~17:00)까지 운영된다. e하늘장사정보 홈페이지를 통해 예약할 수 있으며 전화예약은 불가능하다.

화장로 과부화가 예상됨에 따라 화장로 운영에 차질이 발생하지 않도록 유지보수 업체와 비상대응체계도 적극 구축할 예정이다.

대구공공시설관리공단 문기봉 이사장은 “화장이 보편적 장례 형태로 자리 잡은 만큼 명복공원의 원활한 운영으로 시민의 불편을 최소화할 수 있도록 각별한 노력을 기울이겠다.”고 밝혔다.
