경주타워를 비롯한 기념관, 미술관, 박물관, 공연장 등의 다양한 문화시설과 신라문화에 첨단기술을 접목시킨 전시관, 루미나이트, 석굴암 VR 등의 체험형 콘텐츠를 한 곳에서 만나 볼 수 있기 때문이다.

지난 7일 (재)새마을재단이 새마을사업의 일환으로 초청한 중국 허난성 농업기관 대표단 10명이 경주엑스포대공원을 방문해 새마을관을 찾아 새마을운동의 역사와 성과, 새마을운동의 해외 성공사례 등을 다양한 전시품과 디오라마, 영상 콘텐츠 등을 둘러보았다.

이어 이날 오후에는 경상북도와 동북아자치단체연합(NEAR)이 주관하는 ‘NEAR국제포럼 및 제14차 경제인문교류분과위원회’에 참석한 중국, 일본, 한국, 러시아, 몽골 등 5개국 100여명의 대표단은 경주타워, 솔거미술관, 엑스포기념관 등 공원의 다양한 역사·문화 콘텐츠를 체험했다.

이들 초청손님들 외에도 다양한 해외손님들이 문화관광을 위해 경주엑스포대공원을 찾고 있다.

특히 올 8월에는 ‘2023 새만금 제25회 세계 스카우트 잼버리’대회에 참가했던 독일과 대만 잼버리 대원들이 다녀갔으며, 유럽지역 청소년 단체 관광객들도 7월과 8월 방문해 역사와 문화를 체험했다.

김성조 사장은 “경주엑스포대공원이 21세기 경북의 문화아이콘으로 역사와 문화 가치를 외국인들에 알리는 대표 글로벌 문화체험 명소로 성장해 나가도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

In particular, in August this year, jamboree members from Germany and Taiwan who participated in the ‘2023 Saemangeum 25th World Scout Jamboree’ visited, and tourists from European youth groups also visited in July and August to experience history and culture.

CEO Kim Seong-jo said, “We will strive to make Gyeongju Expo Park a cultural icon of Gyeongbuk in the 21st century and grow into a representative global cultural experience attraction that informs foreigners of history and cultural values.”
