그가 시장 투어 나서는 모습은 기존의 정치인, 행정가들의 발걸음과는 차원이 다르다는 게 캠프 관계자들의 전언이다. 지난 12일 달서구의 본리동 소재 달서시장 장보기도 마찬가지였다. 이날 권 예비후보의 시장투어에는 소식을 접한 지지자 200여 명이 동행했다. 권 예비후보가 상점 하나하나를 방문하면서 장을 보고 상인들과 소통하는 동안 지지자들은 삼삼오오 흩어져서 장도 보고 음식도 사 먹었다. 

적지 않은 사람들이 시장을 찾고, 그냥 구경에만 그치지 않자 상인들은 환영했다. 시장 상인 A씨는 “이렇게 많은 사람들이 찾아 올 줄 몰랐다. 진짜 장이 선 것 같다. 이런 행사가 일과성에 그치지 않고 꾸준히 진행되었으면 좋겠다.”면서 어려운 전통시장을 활성화시키기 위한 실질적인 정책과 지원방안을 마련해 줄 것을 주문했다. 

권 예비후보의 전통시장 장보기 행사는 이날이 처음이 아니었다. 이미 신내당시장, 월촌역 시장에 이은 세 번째 행보였다. 권 예비후보는 앞으로도 지속적으로 전통시장 장보기 행사를 이어갈 계획인 것으로 알려졌다.

 그의 진정성이 느껴지는 선거운동은 시장 뿐 아니다. 권영진 예비후보는 매주 2회 이상 지역의 복지관과 봉사단체를 찾아다니면서 김장 담그기, 급식봉사 등 어려운 이웃을 위한 다양한 봉사활동에 참여하고 있다.
