권 예비후보는 자신의 페이스북에 올린 글을 통해 “이 영화를 통해서 오늘 우리가 누리는 자유와 번영이 이승만 대통령의 조국사랑과 자유민주주의에 대한 확고한 신념 그리고 불굴의 용기와 실천이 있었기에 가능했다는 사실을 깊이 깨닫게 됐다.”라며“영화를 보는 내내 감동과 전율, 반성과 다짐, 감사의 마음이 교차했다.”고 소회를 밝혔다.

또,“영화속에서 미국의 한 참전용사가‘이승만 대통령은 대한민국의 조지워싱턴이다’라는 인터뷰 장면이 맴돈다”며 “많은 대구시민이 꼭 한번 관람하시기를 바란다”는 마음도 전했다.
