【브레이크뉴스 울릉】전종환 기자=울릉군(군수 남한권)은 6월 10일(화) 경주시 황룡원 금강홀에서 열린 민선 8기 제15차 경북시장군수협의회 정기회의에 참석해 경북도민의 독도 방문 확대를 위한 다양한 지원 방안을 공식 건의했다.

이날 회의에는 경상북도 내 시장·군수 22명을 비롯한 도청 관계자 등 120여 명이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다.

남한권 울릉군수는 발언을 통해 "독도 방문객 중 경북도민의 비율이 전체의 약 3%에 불과하다"며, 경북 시·군민들이 독도를 보다 쉽게 방문할 수 있도록 행정적·재정적 지원이 필요하다고 강조했다.

남 군수는 이를 위한 구체적 방안으로 ▲경북도민 울릉도·독도 방문 운임에 대한 도비 10억 원 증액 ▲시·군별 독도 방문 지원 예산 편성 ▲독도 명예주민 대상 시·군 유료관광지 할인 혜택 ▲경북 초·중·고교생 대상 독도 체험 프로그램 확대 등을 제안했다.

이 외에도 ▲울릉도 숙박요금 상한제 도입 ▲경상북도시장군수협의회 사무국 운영 방안 ▲지방정부 협력회의 관련 안건 등도 함께 논의되었으며, 각 시·군의 현안 사업과 홍보 사항이 공유되었다.

이번 회의에서 논의된 안건들은 향후 경상북도 지방정부협력회의와 대한민국시장군수구청장협의회를 거쳐 관계 중앙부처에 공식 제출될 예정이다.

남 군수는 “독도는 경상북도 22개 시·군 모두가 함께 지켜야 할 소중한 땅”이라며, “누구나 독도를 편하게 방문할 수 있도록 울릉군이 철저히 준비하겠다. 독도를 직접 보고 느낄 수 있는 기회를 도민들에게 더 많이 제공해야 한다”고 말했다.

한편, 울릉군은 현재 독도 방문객에게 ‘독도 명예주민증’을 발급하고 있으며, 울릉 지역 유료 관광지에 대해 50% 할인 혜택을 제공하는 등 독도 방문 활성화를 위한 다양한 제도를 운영하고 있다.

Governor Nam said, “Dokdo is a precious land that all 22 cities and counties in Gyeongsangbuk-do must protect together,” and added, “Ulleung-gun will thoroughly prepare so that anyone can visit Dokdo comfortably. We must provide more opportunities for residents to see and feel Dokdo directly.”

Meanwhile, Ulleung-gun is currently issuing ‘Dokdo Honorary Resident Cards’ to visitors to Dokdo and is operating various systems to promote visits to Dokdo, such as providing 50% discounts on paid tourist attractions in the Ulleung area.
