올해 대회는 울릉도에서 개최된 마라톤대회로는 사상 처음으로 국제대회로 진행돼 의미를 더했다. 해외에서는 미국 뉴욕한인마라톤클럽 소속 11명, 대만 타이난시 참가자 5명, 아프리카 출신 참가자 11명 등 총 27명이 참가해 글로벌 축제의 장을 이루었다.

특히 이번 대회는 국제 행사로 격상된 만큼, 울릉군청과 경찰서, 민간단체, 행사 진행요원 등이 유기적으로 협력해 안전관리에 만전을 기했다. 코스 전 구간에 걸쳐 촘촘하게 배치된 안전요원과 수시 순찰을 통해 도로 통제 및 응급 상황에 신속히 대비하는 등 참가자 안전을 최우선으로 했다.

At the opening ceremony that day, Segye Ilbo President Jeong Hee-taek, Ulleung Rotary Club President Jang Tae-won, Ulleung County Mayor Nam Han-kwon, and Ulleung County Council Chairman Lee Sang-sik attended and wished for the successful hosting of the event.

In particular, since this competition was elevated to an international event, Ulleung County Office, police station, private organizations, and event staff worked together organically to ensure safety management.
