포스코그룹은 포스코홀딩스 전략펀드 50억 원과 기업형벤처캐피탈(CVC) 펀드 20억 원 등 총 70억 원을 출자해 이번 투자를 단행했다고 밝혔다.
이번 투자로 포스코그룹은 제조 현장에서 축적해 온 기술 노하우에 브릴스의 로봇 설계·제어 역량을 결합, 단순 제조를 넘어 자동화 운영 시스템까지 아우르는 통합 솔루션 구축에 나설 계획이다. 이를 통해 사람·AI·로봇이 협업하는 차세대 생산체계인 ‘인텔리전트 팩토리’ 구현을 본격화한다는 전략이다.
‘인텔리전트 팩토리’는 기존 스마트 팩토리를 넘어 자율성과 지능화를 강화한 생산 시스템으로, 고강도·고위험 수작업 공정을 로봇으로 대체해 산업 현장의 안전성과 생산성을 동시에 높이는 것이 핵심이다.
포스코그룹은 특히 사고 위험이 높은 작업 환경에 맞춤형 로봇을 우선 적용해 제조 현장의 효율성과 안전성을 동시에 확보할 방침이다.
그동안 포스코그룹은 로봇·AI 분야 투자도 지속 확대해 왔다. 벤처펀드와 포스코기술투자를 통해 에이딘로보틱스, 테솔로, 뉴로메카, 페르소나 AI 등 유망 기업에 총 190억 원을 투자하며 생태계를 확장해왔다.
한편, 브릴스는 2015년 설립된 자동화 솔루션 전문기업으로 약 110여 건의 특허를 보유한 국내 대표 시스템통합(SI) 기업이다. 현대자동차, SK에코플랜트 등 주요 기업 생산 현장에 자동화 기술을 적용하며 경쟁력을 입증했으며, 현재 코스닥 상장을 추진 중이다.
