코로나 19 사태로 명절이면서도 고령의 부모를 찾아뵙지 못함에 따른 자녀들의 불편한 마음을 어르신들이 먼저 보듬고 어루만져 주는 모습이 담긴 이 영상은 지난 14일부터 지역의 120명 생활지원사들이 1천873명의 어르신들을 직접 찾아가 촬영했다. 주 내용은 추석 명절 ‘안전한 집에서 보내기’로, 어르신들이 추석 연휴에 고향 방문을 자제할 것을 당부하는 내용이다.
 
급기야 문재인 대통령도 이 영상을 본 것으로 알려지고 있는데, 28일 영부인 김정숙 여사가 직접 의성의 독거어르신들에게 서한문을 보내 감사의 뜻을 전한 것으로 알려졌다.

영상을 접한 김정숙 여사는 서한문을 통해 “어르신들께서 자제분들에게 보낸 영상편지를 몇 번이나 다시 보았다”며“보고 싶다고.... 가장 하고 싶으실 속엣 말씀을 차마 꺼내놓지 못하시는 그 마음들이 뭉클했다”고 밝혔다.

더불어 “고령의 부모님들을 찾아뵐 수 없는 상황이기에 죄송함과 서운함으로 자제분들도 편치 않을 것”이라며 “저 또한 요양원에 계신 어머니를 오래 못 뵙고 있다”고 추석에도 마음 편히 부모님을 찾지 못하는 대한민국 모든 자녀들의 마음을 대신 전하기도 했다.

김 여사는 또, “의성군의 어르신들이 보내주신 영상 메시지가 고향과 부모님을 찾지 못하는 많은 국민들의 마음을 보듬어 주셨다”면서“어르신들이 지금까지 수많은 어려움을 이겨내 온 것처럼, 현명하고 강인한 우리 국민들은 코로나도 극복할 수 있을 것”이라는 희망의 메시지를 전하며 잠깐의 아쉬움이 대한민국의 일상을 되찾는 아름다운 결실로 돌아오기를 기원했다.

김주수 의성군수는 “영부인께서 보내주신 편지가 어르신들의 아쉬운 마음에 큰 위안이 됐다. 진심으로 감사드린다”며“의성군은 자녀분들이 안심하고 연휴를 보낼 수 있도록 명절기간 돌봄서비스를 강화하고, 어르신들의 안전을 위해 코로나19 방역에도 총력을 기울이겠다”고 밝혔다. 의성군은 29일 김 여사의 서한문을 어르신들에게 전달할 예정이다.
