【브레이크뉴스 의성】이성현 기자=의성군(군수 김주수)은 10월 27일부터 31일까지 4박 5일 일정으로 의성교육지원청 전영배 교육지원과장을 단장으로 하는 교류단 25명(중·고등학생 및 인솔자)을 국제자매결연 도시인 중국 셴양시로 파견해 다양한 문화체험 활동을 진행하고 있다고 밝혔다.
셴양시는 중국 최초의 통일국가 진나라의 수도였으며, 한·당 시대까지 중요한 수도권 지역으로 자리한 유서 깊은 역사도시로, 의성군과는 2003년 10월 국제자매결연을 체결했다. 이번 방문은 2005년 4월 ‘교사·학생 정기교류 합의서’ 채택 이후 14번째 연수이며, 지난 5월에는 중국 셴양시 교사·학생 대표단이 의성군을 9번째로 방문한 바 있다. 이러한 교류를 통해 양 도시 학생들은 서로의 교육과 문화를 이해하고 국제적 안목을 넓힐 기회를 갖게 된다.
교류단은 셴양시 리취안 제2학교 등 3개 학교를 방문해 양 지역 교사와 학생 간 우호교류 활동을 진행하며, 병마용, 대안탑 등 셴양시의 주요 역사문화 유적지를 탐방해 견문을 넓힐 예정이다.
김주수 의성군수는 “이번 방문을 통해 학생들이 국제적 시야를 넓히고 문화적 다양성을 이해하는 글로벌 인재로 성장하길 바란다”며, “앞으로도 청소년 중심의 국제교류를 지속 추진해 양 도시 간 우호 협력 관계를 더욱 공고히 하겠다”고 밝혔다.

25 Uiseong County Students Visit Xianyang City, China, for Global Cultural Experience
Uiseong County (Governor Kim Ju-soo) announced that it will send a 25-member exchange group (middle and high school students and their chaperones), led by Jeon Yeong-bae, Director of the Education Support Division at the Uiseong Office of Education, to Xianyang City, China, an international sister city, for a five-day, four-night trip from October 27th to 31st. Xianyang City, a historic city steeped in history, was the capital of the Qin Dynasty, China's first unified state, and served as an important metropolitan area throughout the Han and Tang Dynasties. Uiseong County and Xianyang City established an international sister city relationship in October 2003. The exchange group will visit three schools, including Liquan No. 2 School in Xianyang City, to engage in friendly exchanges between teachers and students from both regions. They will also visit key historical and cultural sites in Xianyang City, such as the Terracotta Army and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, to broaden their horizons.
Uiseong County Mayor Kim Ju-soo stated, "I hope this visit will broaden the students' international perspectives and help them grow into global leaders who understand cultural diversity." He added, "We will continue to promote youth-centered international exchanges to further solidify the friendly and cooperative relationship between our two cities."
