【브레이크뉴스 의성】이성현 기자=의성군(군수 김주수)은 최근 발생한 초대형 산불로 인한 위기 속에서도 농가들의 신속한 대응 덕분에 인명 피해와 농기계 피해를 최소화한 것으로 나타났다.

15일 의성군에 따르면 이번 산불은 경북 북부 산림을 중심으로 빠르게 확산되며 다수 농가의 과수원과 농작물, 농업 기반시설에 큰 피해를 남겼다.

그러나 사전에 산불 위험을 인지한 농민들이 주요 농기계를 들녘 등 개활지로 이동시키거나, 화재 취약시설에서 떨어진 장소로 피신시키는 등의 침착하고 현명한 대응을 펼친 결과, 고가 농기계 및 주요 장비 다수가 불길을 피해 무사히 보존될 수 있었다.

의성군 조사에 따르면, 전체 피해 우려 농기계 약 2,072여 대 중 상당수가 이러한 조치로 피해를 피했으며, 특히 영농 시기에 맞춰 사용 예정이던 장비들이 온전히 보존돼 향후 일정에도 큰 도움이 될 전망이다.

무엇보다도, 인명 피해도 최소화됐다는 점에서 주민들의 발 빠른 대처와 군의 긴급 대응 체계가 효과적으로 작동했음을 보여주고 있다.

의성군은 정부 및 경북도와 협력해 NDMS(재난관리시스템) 등록 농기계 외에도 기타 장비까지 지원할 수 있는 복구 계획을 마련 중이며, 관련 기준과 절차는 조만간 별도 안내할 예정이다.

김주수 의성군수는 “갑작스러운 재난 속에서도 농가의 침착한 대응 덕분에 피해를 줄일 수 있었다”라며, “군은 앞으로도 복구와 예방 지원에 최선을 다하겠다”라고 밝혔다.

한편, 군은 이번 산불을 계기로 기후위기 시대의 재난 대응 능력 강화를 위한 체계를 점검하고, 농기계 보관 및 관리 방식 개선과 예방 교육 확대에도 적극 나설 계획이다.
