포항해양경찰서(서장 한상철)는 5월 10일부터 6월 11일까지 국내에서 운항하는 유조선을 대상으로 해양오염예방을 위한 집중점검을 실시한다.
6일 포항해양경찰서에 따르면 이번 점검에서는 선박해양오염비상계획서 이행실태, 방제자재·약제 법정 비치량 및 관리상태, 이중선저구조 이행여부 등을 중점적으로 점검한다.
특히, 600톤 미만 기름을 적재하는 소형유조선은‘22년까지 단계적으로 이중선체구조를 갖추어야 하며 100톤 이상 유조선은 형식승인 및 검정된방제자재·약제를 비치하도록 의무화하고 있다.
포항해양경찰서 관계자는“유조선 해양오염사고는 한 번 발생하면 해양환경에 막대한 피해로 이어질 위험성이 높으므로 선주 등 유조선 관계자들이 해양오염방지를 위한 자발적인 참여와 당부를 드린다."고 밝혔다
