아무런 연고와 명분도 없는 중.남구 재보궐에 뛰어든 이진훈 전 수성구청장의 행보를 두고 지역정가가 여러 해석을 내놓고 있다. 

우선은 그의 느닷없는 중남구 행에 대하여 지역정가의 궁금증이 가득하다.

그의 중남구행 설은 최근 1주일도 되지 않았다. 그의 중남구 출마설 이전에는 홍준표 의원의 대구시장 출마설이 지역정가에 먼저 돌았다. 

지역정가는 홍 의원이 이미 대구시장 출마를 염두해 두고, 지역 정서를 파악하는 차원에서 설만 흘리고 있는 것으로 보고 출마설을 비난해왔다.
