포항시에 따르면 도내 23개 시·군에서 1만1,545명(선수 7,949 임원 3,596명)의 선수단이 참가하는 이번 대회는 오는 18일까지 육상, 수영, 농구 등 29개 종목에서 시·군간 치열한 순위 경쟁을 펼친다.

코로나19 이후 3년 만에 포항에서 개최되는 이번 대회는 ‘희망 빛 나래, 포항’이라는 주제로 펼쳐지며, 개막식에서는 ‘희망의 아리랑’, 드론라이트 및 멀티미디어쇼 등 다채로운 볼거리와 함께 이찬원·에일리·오마이걸·전유진 등 국내 정상급 인기가수의 축하공연이 체전의 열기를 더욱 뜨겁게 한다.

공식행사는 선수단 입장에 이어 임종식 경상북도교육감의 개회선언, 이강덕 포항시장의 환영사, 대회기 게양, 김하영 경북도체육회장의 개회사 및 이철우 경북도지사의 대회사 순으로 진행된다.

선수대표 선서는 포항시청 소속 김다니(육상) 선수와 황윤정(배구) 선수가, 심판대표 선서는 포항시역도연맹 김일곤 전무이사가 맡는다.
