대구시는 외부 전문가로 구성된 임원추천위원회 심의 및 이사회 추천을 거쳐 대구문화예술진흥원을 안정적으로 이끌어갈 초대 원장으로 김정길 전 TBC대구방송 대표이사를 내정했다고 5일 밝혔다.

김 내정자는 중앙대학교 신문방송 석사, 계명대학교 언론학 박사 학위를 취득했으며 대구문화예술회관장, 매일신문 부사장, 제8대 대구예술대학교 총장, 대구사진비엔날레 조직위원장, 대구문화재단 대표, TBC 대표이사를 역임했다.

대구문화예술진흥원은 문화재단을 비롯해 오페라재단, 관광재단, 문화예술회관, 콘서트하우스, 대구미술관 등 지역의 상징적 문화·관광 기관들을 통합 운영하면서 대구 문화예술과 관광정책의 컨트롤타워 기능을 수행하게 된다. 

김 내정자는 공식 임명 절차를 거쳐 오는 7일부터 2년간 대구문화예술진흥원을 이끌게 된다.
