시에 따르면 증차되는 2대는 기존 급행1번 노선 구간인 매곡에서 동화시설집단지구까지 운행하지 않고 이용수요가 많은 동대구역에서 동화시설집단지구 구간을 집중적으로 왕복 운행해 차내의 혼잡도를 완화하고 방문객들의 이용편의를 높일 계획이다.
