이번 대회는 ‘세상에서 가장 아름다운 다섯글자! 사랑합니다. 고맙습니다. 자원봉사자’를 주제로 지역사회 발전에 이바지하고 나눔과 봉사의 문화를 확산해 따뜻한 사회를 만들어가는 데 기여한 자원봉사자에 대한 정부 포상 전수와 유공 표창 수여식이 진행됐다.

이날 국무총리 표창에 김동수(포항시바른선거시민모임), 안양숙(포항시립 포은중앙도서관 자원봉사자회), 행정안전부장관 표창에 김나윤(포항아라봉사회), 포항시장 표창에는 에코프로를 비롯한 3개 단체와 개인 30명이 수상의 영광을 안았다.

또한 한국자원봉사센터협회장·(재)한국중앙자원봉사센터장·(사)경상북도종합자원봉사센터 이사장 표창전수 및 (사)포항시자원봉사센터 이사장 표창 수여도 함께 진행됐다.

이외에도 연간 1,000시간 이상 봉사활동을 펼친 봉사왕이 58명, 금장(700~1,000시간) 49명, 은장(500~700시간) 87명, 동장(300~500시간) 211명 등 총 405명이 봉사 인증서를 받았다.

이강덕 포항시장은 “코로나19와 태풍 등 재난 상황에서도 적극적으로 봉사활동을 이어오고 한결같은 열정으로 포항시를 빛내주신 자원봉사자분들의 헌신과 노고에 감사드린다”며, “지역의 경제를 활성화하고 희망찬 포항을 조성하는 데 자원봉사와 함께 뜻을 모으겠다”라고 말했다.
