시에 따르면 ‘2022 경상북도 투자유치 대상’은 경북 23개 시군을 대상으로 지난 1년(2021.11.~2022.10.) 동안의 투자유치 성과를 평가해 ‘시군 자치단체', ‘유공 공무원’, ‘투자기업’ 총 3개 부문에 대해 시상했다.

포항시는 시군 자치단체 부문 대상과 함께 유공 공무원 부문에서는 투자기업지원과 이화형 주무관이 대상을, 투자기업 부문에서 에코프로머티리얼즈가 대상을 수상해 투자유치 전 부문 대상 수상이라는 영예를 안았다. 또한, 우전지앤에프는 ‘특별상’을 수상하기도 했다.

포항시는 지난 1년 동안 영일만4일반산업단지와 포항블루밸리 국가산업단지, 포항융합기술산업지구에 이차전지와 로봇, 바이오 등 14개사에 1조 4,000억 원 규모의 투자를 유치해 시·군 자치단체 부문과 유공 공무원 부문에서 대상을 받게 됐다.

또한, 투자기업 부문에서 대상을 수상한 에코프로머티리얼즈는 영일만4 일반산업단지 내 4,020억 원을 투자해 연산 5만 톤 규모의 전구체 생산시설을 구축해 국내 이차전지 산업에 앞장서 왔으며, 올해 12월 현재까지 400여 명을 고용해 고용 창출과 지역경제 활성화에 기여했다.

특별상을 수상한 우전지앤에프의 경우 이차전지 소재생산 전문 기업으로 포항시와 지난 3월 750억 원 규모의 투자양해각서를 체결했으며, 2023년 생산 공장을 착공할 예정이다.

한편, 포항시는 민선 7·8기에 이차전지 분야에서는 4조 2,000억 원, 수소·바이오 분야에서는 1조 3,000억 원을 유치했다. 특히, 이차전지 산업 분야에서는 사용 후 배터리 자원순환 클러스터, 인라인 자동평가센터 유치와 함께 이차전지 국내 앵커기업(에코프로, 포스코케미칼, GS건설, 삼성SDI)과 중국 GEM, CNGR 등 글로벌 이차전지 기업 투자유치로 글로벌 배터리 기업 투자의 최적지로 부상하고 있으며, 이차전지 특화단지 지정을 통해 이차전지 허브도시로 도약을 준비하고 있다.

이강덕 포항시장은 “앞으로도 포항시는 기업 유치를 통한 고용 창출과 지역경제 활성화를 위해 적극 노력하겠다”며, “이차전지, 수소·바이오와 같은 핵심 신성장산업 유치 및 육성을 통한 새로운 혁신 성장 발판을 마련하는 데 전 행정력을 집중하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
