대구시는 2023년을 미래모빌리티 중심도시로 본격적인 도약을 알리는 원년으로 삼아 지역 기업·대학·기관 간 긴밀한 협업 체계 아래 속도감 있는 육성사업을 추진한다고 15일 밝혔다.

대구는 광역 도시 유일하게 도심 내에 지능형자동차부품 주행시험장을 보유하고 있으며 테크노폴리스, 국가산단, 수성알파시티 일대에 자율주행 전용도로를 구축해 시범운행 지구를 운영하고 있다. 

이러한 기반을 바탕으로  현재 국가산단, 테크노폴리스, 설화명곡역으로 연결되는 자율주행 시범운행 구간을 서대구역 일대까지 확대해 전국 최초 KTX-자율주행-지하철이 단절 없이 연결되는 ‘자율주행·대중교통 연계 시대’를 열어간다.

또 미래차 디지털융합산업 실증플랫폼 구축사업(120억 원)을 통해 기 구축한 자율주행 전용도로를 일반 시내도로까지 확대하고 소형 승용차부터 버스까지 전(全)차종 실증이 가능한 상용화 환경을 구축한다. 

특히 자율주행 등 미래모빌리티 주행시험 수요 증가에 발맞춰 2014년 준공된 지능형자동차부품 주행시험장에 자율주행 시험로와 유럽 신차 평가기준(EURO NCAP) 통과를 위한 시험장비 등을 증설해 글로벌 수준의 CAV(Connected and Autonomous Vehicle) 시험장으로 고도화 할 계획이다.

대구시는 미래모빌리티 소부장산업 육성을 위해 대통령 공약인 전기차 혁신 모터밸리 조성과 연계해 지역이 강점을 보유한 모터 중심으로 소부장 특화단지를 구축하고, 연관 기업 집적을 통해 모터 제조·생산에서부터 재활용까지 전주기를 아우르는 차별화된 전략을 마련한다.

지역에는 국내 유일하게 전기차 모터용 영구자석을 생산하는 성림첨단산업, 국내 전기차 모터 코어의 70%를 생산하는 고아정공, 현대전기차 모터 모듈을 위탁생산하는 경창산업 등이 위치하고 있어 모터 소재부품, 모듈에 이르는 밸류체인이 이미 형성돼 있다.

또 대구는 경북·경남·울산으로 이어지는 자동차부품벨트의 동남권 관문을 형성하고 있어 모터 특화 단지가 조성이 된다면 타 지역과 시너지를 창출해 글로벌 수준의 미래모빌리티 클러스터로 발전 가능성이 무궁무진할 것으로 전망된다. 

아울러 지난해 윤석열 정부의 제1호 지방주도형 투자·일자리사업으로 선정된 대동모빌리티의 대구형 일자리사업과 연계한 ‘대중소 상생 E-배송모빌리티 협력생태계 육성사업’을 통해 초소형 EV 핵심부품을 국산화하고 지역 기반의 글로벌 밸류체인 확대를 통해 ‘마이크로 EV 제조 도시, 대구’의 위상도 높여 나갈 계획이다. 

홍준표 대구시장은 “대구경북신공항, K2 종전부지 개발 등 대구가 준비 중인 미래 50년 도시공간 개발 프로젝트와 연계해 앞으로 대구가 전국 최고 모빌리티산업 도시로 성장할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
