【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항시는 20일부터 예산소진 시까지 운행 경유차 배출가스 저감장치 부착 및 건설기계 엔진 교체 지원사업을 시행한다고 17일 밝혔다.

시에 따르면 접수일 기준으로 포항시에 2개월 이상 연속으로 등록·소유한 배출가스 5등급 경유차 또는 2005년 이전 배출허용기준을 적용해 제작된 경유 사용 건설기계다.

올해는 운행 경유차 매연저감장치(DPF) 1,120대, PM-NOx 저감장치 17대, 건설기계 매연저감장치(DPF) 84대, 건설기계 엔진 교체 144대 등을 지원할 예정이다.

올해 1월 말 기준으로 포항시에 등록된 경유차는 1만 3,983대로 지난해 초 기준 1만 7,288대에서 3,305대가 줄었으며, 이중 저감장치가 부착된 차량은 2,427대다.

신청은 자동차 배출가스 등급제 누리집에서 하거나 포항시 환경정책과에 등기우편을 통해 신청서를 제출하면 된다. 집중접수 기간인 2월 20일부터 3월 20일까지는 가까운 읍면동 행정복지센터에서도 신청할 수 있다.

접수 후 1개월 이내 대상자 선정 여부를 개별 문자로 통보하며, 이후 한국자동차환경협회 및 제작사의 별도 안내를 통해 저감장치를 부착할 수 있다.

저감장치 부착 사업에 참여한 차량은 향후 조기 폐차 지원 대상에서 제외되며, 저감장치 장착 후 의무 운행 기간 2년간 저감장치 탈거 및 폐차가 불가능하다.

포항시 관계자는 “운행차 배출가스 저공해화 사업 추진을 통해 지역주민이 더 쾌적한 환경에서 생활할 것으로 기대된다”며, “시민들께서는 미래세대 기후 위기 대응과 탄소중립에 기여한다는 생각으로 적극적인 참여를 해 주시기를 바란다”라고 전했다.
