이번 협약을 통해 영덕군과 영덕군의회, 영덕경찰서는 영덕군 자율방범대가 지역 안전의 주체로서 자리매김해 안전한 영덕군을 조성할 수 있도록 유기적인 협업체계를 구축해 나가기로 했다.

또한 영덕군과 의회는 영덕경찰서의 자율방범대 운영에 관한 조례 제·개정과 자율방범대의 지역사회 안전활동에 필요한 예산 지원 및 행정에 적극 협력하기로 했다.

김광열 영덕군수는 “우리 사회에서 안전이 무엇보다 중요한 사안으로 대두된 만큼 이번 협약으로 각 주체가 서로 유기적으로 협력해 안전하고 건강한 지역 공동체를 구현해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
