10일 의성군(군수 김주수)에 따르면 의성 고운사 가운루는 고운사 내 누각으로 건립시기는 1668년 극성,승묵, 덕종 스님이 가운루를 건립했다.

현재까지 여러차례 수리를거쳤지만, 큰 훼손이나 변형 없이 유지가 되고 있어 역사적 가치가 매우 크다.

계곡을 가로질러 배치한 사찰 누각 중 가장 큰 규모의 누각이며, 계곡으로 인한 지형의 높낮이 차이를 기둥 높이과 넓은 주칸으로 해결하는 구조 형식 등으로 기존의 사찰누각과는 다르게 자연과의 조화를 잘 이루고 있다.

특히 조선 중·후기 유행하던 건축 양식이잘 남아 있어 예술적·학술적 가치가 높다.

고운사는 신라 신문왕 원년(681년)에 의상대사가 창건한 사찰로 최치원이 우화루와 가운루를 건립하여 지금의 고운사(孤雲寺)가 되었으며, 고운사 석조여래좌상, 고운사 연수전 등 많은 문화유산과 함께조계종 제16교구 본사로 많은 불교신자들이 방문하는 곳이다.

김주수 의성군수는“의성 고운사 가운루의 보물 승격을 축하한다”라고 말하며, “앞으로 소중한 우리의 문화유산을 잘 보존하고 우리의후손들에게 잘 물려주기 위하여 노력하겠다”라고 말했다.

  It is the largest of the temple pavilions placed across the valley, and unlike existing temple pavilions, it harmonizes well with nature through its structural form that resolves the difference in height of the topography caused by the valley with the height of the pillars and wide main compartment. .

In particular, it has high artistic and academic value as the architectural style that was popular in the middle and late Joseon Dynasty remains well preserved.

It has many cultural heritages such as Gounsa Stone Seated Buddha and Gounsa Yeonsujeon. It is the headquarters of the 16th Diocese of the Jogye Order and is visited by many Buddhist believers.
