군은 지난 7월 1일 대구시교육청 접견실에서 ‘달성군청 유소년축구단’ 창단을 위한 업무협약을 체결하고, 유소년 스포츠 저변 확대를 위한 행보에 시동을 걸었다.
이번 협약은 대구시교육청 소속인 화원초등학교 축구부를 달성군청이 인수·운영하는 방식으로 추진된다. 협약식에는 최재훈 달성군수와 강은희 대구시교육감, 화원초, 대구시축구협회 관계자 등이 참석해 지역 체육 발전을 위한 협력 의지를 다졌다.
달성군은 축구단 운영에 필요한 행정적·재정적 지원을 전폭적으로 펼칠 예정이며, 이를 통해 지역 체육 유망주를 조기 발굴하고 전문적으로 육성할 수 있는 기반을 마련한다는 방침이다.
최재훈 군수는 “유소년축구단 창단은 아이들이 체육을 통해 꿈을 키우고 건강하게 성장할 수 있는 의미 있는 첫걸음”이라며 “앞으로도 아동과 청소년을 위한 건강한 체육 환경 조성에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 이번 협약은 지방자치단체와 교육청이 손잡고 지역 체육 생태계를 조성하는 모범적인 사례로 평가받고 있다.
