【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=국민의힘 추경호 국회의원(대구 달성군)이 제26회 백봉신사상(白峰紳士賞)을 수상했다고 12일 밝혔다.

지난 11일 추경호 의원은 백봉정치문화교육연구원이 선정한 ‘올해의 신사의원 베스트 10’에 이름을 올렸다.

백봉신사상은 신사적인 정치인을 양성하고 격려한다는 취지로 해마다 국회출입 기자들의 여론조사를 통해 선정한다.

정치적 리더십, 국가와 국민에 대한 헌신, 의회민주주의실천, 모범적 의정활동 등 6개 분야를 평가하고 가장 높은 점수를 얻은 모범의원 선정해 시상한다.

추경호 의원은 지난해 국민의힘 원내대표를 역임하며, 당내 의원들의 두터운 신망을 얻었다. 그리고 평소 언론인들과 여·야 의원들뿐 아니라 국회사무처, 보좌진들과도 긴밀히 소통하며 합리적인 의정활동을 해왔다는 평가다. 

추 의원은 “권위 있고, 영광스러운 상을 받게 되어 기쁘다. 언론인 여러분과 동료 의원들 그리고 국회사무처 분들께서 더 열심히 잘하라는 의미로 선정해주신 것 같다”며 “대내외적으로 급변하는 정치·경제 상황 속에서 백봉 선생의 애국·애민 정신을 받들어 민생을 지키고, 미래를 키우는 의정활동을 펼쳐나가겠다”고 말했다.

The Baekbong Gentleman Award is selected every year through a public opinion poll of reporters covering the National Assembly with the purpose of fostering and encouraging gentlemanly politicians.

The award is given to the model lawmaker who receives the highest score after evaluating six areas including political leadership, dedication to the country and people, practice of parliamentary democracy, and exemplary parliamentary activities.

Last year, while serving as the floor leader of the People Power Party, Choo Kyung-ho earned the deep trust of party members. And he is evaluated to have carried out rational parliamentary activities by communicating closely with not only journalists and ruling and opposition lawmakers, but also the National Assembly Secretariat and aides.

Rep. Choo said, “I am delighted to receive such a prestigious and honorable award. I think the journalists, fellow lawmakers, and the National Assembly Secretariat selected me to work harder.” He added, “In the midst of rapidly changing political and economic situations at home and abroad, I will carry out parliamentary activities that protect the people’s livelihood and foster the future by upholding the patriotic and loving spirit of Mr. Baekbong.”
