신서첨단의료지구는 2015년 기반시설 조성 이후 지난 10년간 신약·의료기기 개발 기업과 한국뇌연구원, 대구경북첨단의료산업진흥재단 등 연구·교육기관이 집적된 지역으로, 현재 외투기업 1곳, 국내기업 74곳, 연구·교육기관 16개가 입주해 대구·경북 의료산업의 핵심 거점으로 자리잡고 있다.

올해는 레피오(치과용 의료기기), 오대(식모기), 인트인(정자분석기), 엔도비전(수술장비), 인코아(창상피복재) 등 다수의 의료기기 기업이 DGFEZ 주관 ‘중동 무역사절단’(9월 22~27일)에 참여해 약 483만 달러의 계약 예상 성과를 거두는 등 글로벌 시장 진출을 위한 도약의 해가 되기도 했다.

또한 2014년 한국뇌연구원 준공 이후, 아스트로젠(신약개발), 뉴다이브(사회성 치료기기) 등 뇌과학 기반 기업들이 대구에 본사를 두고 임상 3상에 진입하는 등, 신서첨단의료지구는 뇌과학 중심도시 도약을 위한 기반을 차곡히 다지고 있다.

DGFEZ는 이처럼 글로벌 첨단의료지구로 성장하기 위해 노력해온 입주기업 관계자들을 격려하고, 코로나19 이후 단절됐던 문화 향유 기회를 회복하기 위해 이번 음악공연을 마련했다.

이날 공연에는 KBS 불후의 명곡 청춘마이크 특집(2024.11.2) 우승팀 송클레어, 김기태와 함께 무대에 오른 판소리제작소 소리담기, ‘대구·경북의 조수미’로 불리는 소프라노 마혜선 등이 참여해 큰 관심을 모았다.

프로그램은 이탈리아 성악곡 5곡을 시작으로 아르헨티나 탱고 2곡, 퓨전국악 3곡 등 다양한 장르를 넘나들며 60분 동안 풍성한 공연을 선사했다.

홍창식 신서첨단의료지구 입주기업협의회 대표는 “코로나 이후 오랜만에 열린 문화공연을 통해 입주기업 직원들이 직접 문화복지를 누릴 수 있어 감사하다”며 “앞으로도 정주여건 향상을 위한 다양한 지원이 이어지길 바란다”고 말했다.

김희석 DGFEZ 혁신성장본부장은 “입주기업 관계자들의 적극적인 참여에 감사드린다”며 “향후 기업 현장으로 찾아가는 문화복지 지원 사업을 확대해 경제자유구역의 정주 환경을 더욱 고도화하겠다”고 밝혔다.

DGFEZ Hosts "Visiting Music Concert" for Companies in the Shinseo Advanced Medical District

On the 18th, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority (DGFEZ) held the "Visiting Music Concert with the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority" for employees of companies in the Shinseo Advanced Medical District at the K-Medi Hub auditorium in Dong-gu, Daegu.

Since the establishment of its infrastructure in 2015, the Shinseo Advanced Medical District has been home to a cluster of new drug and medical device development companies, as well as research and education institutions such as the Korea Brain Research Institute and the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation. Currently, it houses one foreign-invested company, 74 domestic companies, and 16 research and education institutions, establishing it as a key hub for the Daegu-Gyeongbuk medical industry.

This year, many medical device companies, including Refio (dental medical devices), Odae (hair transplanters), Intin (sperm analyzers), Endovision (surgical equipment), and Inkoa (wound dressings), participated in the DGFEZ-hosted "Middle East Trade Mission" (September 22-27) and achieved an estimated contract value of approximately $4.83 million. This marked a leap forward for entering the global market.

Furthermore, since the completion of the Korea Brain Research Institute in 2014, brain science-based companies such as Astrogen (new drug development) and New Dive (social therapy devices) have established their headquarters in Daegu and entered Phase 3 clinical trials. This has solidified the foundation for the Shinseo Advanced Medical District to become a hub for brain science.

The DGFEZ organized this music concert to encourage the resident companies who have worked hard to grow the district into a global advanced medical district and to restore cultural opportunities that had been lost due to COVID-19.

The performance drew significant attention, with participation from the winners of the KBS Immortal Songs: Youth Mic Special (November 2, 2024), Song Claire, the Pansori Production Company Soridamgi, who appeared on stage with Kim Ki-tae, and soprano Ma Hye-seon, dubbed the "Sumi Jo of Daegu and Gyeongbuk."

The program began with five Italian vocal pieces, followed by two Argentine tangos and three fusion Korean traditional music pieces, offering a rich 60-minute performance spanning a variety of genres.

Hong Chang-sik, head of the Shinseo Advanced Medical District Tenant Company Council, said, "I am grateful that this cultural performance, held for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, allows employees of resident companies to directly enjoy cultural benefits. I hope that diverse support to improve living conditions will continue in the future."

Kim Hee-seok, head of the DGFEZ Innovation Growth Headquarters, said, “We are grateful for the active participation of the companies that have moved in,” and added, “We will expand the cultural welfare support project that visits companies in the future to further enhance the residential environment of the free economic zone.”
