이번 행사는 기관단체장 및 후원자, 봉사자들이 한자리에 모여 2020년 올해도 300세대 사랑의 연탄 12만장 나눔을 목표로 어려운 세대가 따뜻한 겨울을 보낼 수 있도록 마련했다.

강인철 상주연탄은행 대표는 “불경기에도 불구하고 연탄가격의 인상으로 서민들의 겨울나기가 팍팍해지고 있어 어려운 이웃들을위한 아낌없는 후원과 적극적인 참여를 부탁드리며, 후원자분들의 후원금은 사랑의 연탄 및 고령화로 연탄사용이 어려운 세대에는 난방유도 지원할 계획이다“고 말했다.

비영리단체 상주연탄은행은 2007년 3월 9일 연탄은행전국협의회17호점으로 문을 열었으며 정부 보조금이 아닌 순수 후원금으로 현재까지 사랑의 연탄 137만장, 3천4백여 가정에 지원됐다.
