우 부위원장은 31일 동구청장 선거 예비후보 등록을 하고 본격적인 선거운동에 나설 예정이다. 사무실 개소식은 4월 초로 예정하고 있다.
우 부위원장은 "대구 미래 혁신의 중심에서 큰 변화를 앞두고 있는 동구의 미래를 위해서 뚝심 있게 밀어붙이는 경영전문가가 필요하다. 동구의 미래에 대한 깊이 있는 고민과 이해로 현장중심, 실천중심의 지속가능한 동구를 만들겠다"며 "서민의 행복한 삶을 영위하고 동구구민의 살림살이를 책임지는 동구청장이 되겠다."고 말했다.
우성진 부위원장은 동촌초, 동중, 청구고등학교를 졸업하고, 영남대학교 대학원에서 사회학과 박사과정을 수료했다.
현재 대구바둑협회장, ㈜메가젠임플란트 부사장, 대구미르치과병원 상임고문, 대구통합신공항 대구시민추진단 부위원장, 국민의힘 대구시당 부위원장을 맡고 있다. 대선 때는 윤석열 후보 중앙선대위 조직통합본부 대구경제산업위원회 위원장을 맡았고, 동촌초등학교, 청구중·고등학교 총동창회 회장, 청구중·고등학교 장학재단 이사장, 동구교육발전장학회 이사 등을 역임했다.
