【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=국민의힘 차수환 대구 동구청장 예비후보가 28일 ‘당내 경선 불참’을 선언한 가운데 국민의힘 대구시당 공천관리위원회는 이날 우성진, 윤석준 두 사람으로 동구청장 경선을 실시한다고 밝혔다. 

차수환 대구 동구청장 예비후보는 경선 참여 서약서에 제출한 지 하루만인 28일 갑작스럽게 “후보 등록 후 4주 동안 마음이 너무 다치고 힘들었다.”는 심경을 밝히며 경선 불참을 선언했다.

이와 관련해 지역 정가에서는 우성진, 윤석준 2인간 경선, 우성진, 윤석준, 차수환 3인이라는 경선 방식과 하룻밤 사이에 갑자기 마음이 바뀐 것에 대한 의혹들이 쏟아졌다. 

이에 대해 공관위는 한때 차수환 예비후보가 경선 불참을 통보했더라도 경선 서약서를 제출한 뒤의 상황이라는 점에서 세 사람을 묶어 당초 예정대로 3인 경선을 치를 것으로 알려지기도 했다. 그러나 전체 공관위 회의에서는 기탁금을 납부하지 않은 상황이 향후 또다른 논란을 가져올 수 있다는 점에서 우성진, 윤석준 두 사람으로 경선을 실시하기로 최종 가닥을 잡았다.

공관위 내부에서는 기탁금과 관련해 서약서와 기탁금을 함께 처리하지 못했던 것에 대한 자성과 함께 향후 경선부터는 함께 제출될 수 있도록 조정해 나가기로 했다.

한편, 선거법 위반 혐의로 논란이 되는 국민의힘 이태훈 예비후보에 대해 대구시당공천관리위원회는 중앙당의 공천 원칙을 준수한다는 입장이다. 국민의힘 공천 원칙은 설령 후보가 기소 중이더라도 법원 판단을 우선 한다는 것으로, 사실상 이태훈 예비후보에게 제기되고 있는 선거법 위반 의혹을 공천 과정에서는 다루지 않을 예정이다.
