그러면서 “이번 총선을 거쳐 출범하는 22대 국회에는 ‘깨끗한 정치’, ‘깨끗한 국회의원상’이 반드시 정립되어야 한다”고 강조했다. 

우 예비후보는 “민의를 대표하는 국회의원을 뽑는 선거에서 범죄 이력이 있는 것 만큼 큰 허물이 없을 것으로 본다”며 “각 정당의 공천에서 당연히 걸러지겠지만 국민들이 표로 심판하기 전이라도 선당후사의 마음가짐으로 스스로 사퇴하는 양심이 필요할 것”이라고 덧붙여 말했다.
