지난 27일 성은경 예비후보는 선거 사무소 개소식을 열고 본격적인 총선 준비에 돌입했다.

이날 개소식에는 이석복 차세대미래전략연구원 이사장 겸 대한민국 불교도총연합회 공동대표, 김태우 제11대 통일연구원 원장, 동화사 신도회 장세철 회장, 이창섭 전 연합뉴스 편집국장 등 각계 인사들과 서구 주민들이 참석한 가운데 성 예비후보가 제시하는 서구의 핵심 선거 공약 소개가 이뤄졌다.

축사는 차세대 미래전략연구원 이사장 겸 대한민국불교도총연합회 공동대표인 이석복 예비역 육군 소장이 박희도 전 육군참모총장의 메시지를 대신 전했고, 장세철 동화사 신도회장이 의현 스님의 당부를 대신해서 밝혔다. 이와 함께 국방부 군비통제검증단 김태우 위원과 이창섭 전 연합뉴스 편집국장 등이 축사를 전하기도 했다.

성은경 예비후보는 “대구 서구에서 나고 자란 서구의 딸이 그간의 경험을 바탕으로 지역 구석구석을 살펴 묵은 숙원을 반드시 해결할 것이며, 세상을 더 살기 좋은 곳으로 만들겠다는 신념으로 시민사회에서 오랜 기간 열과 성을 다해왔듯이 빛나는 대한민국의 시작이 이곳 대구 서구의 빛에서 시작되도록 하겠다”고 말했다.

그러면서 염색공단 악취 등 환경문제 해결 및 염색공단 이전, 서구 관통 도시철도 건설, 서대구역 역세권 확장 개발로 교통과 물류 허브 인프라 구축, 고부가가치 첨단산업 유치 및 육성 추진, 의료서비스특구 개발, 실버복지증진 및 취약계층 복지여건 개선, 서구 명문 학군 만들기 및 교육인프라 확충 등의 핵심 공약을 발표했다.

또한 그는 “시대적 사명을 다하고 특권층이 된 586운동권 주사파와 웰빙 국회의원이 퇴진하여야 한다” 며 “가난한 서부시장 상인의 딸로 태어나 인생의 고비마다 도전해 지금 여기까지 왔다. 고향 서구의 발전을 위해 열과 성을 다해 불철주야 뛰겠다”고 포부를 밝히기도 했다.

성은경 예비후보는 대구 서부초등학교 경상여자중학교 효성여자고등학교를 졸업한 후 경북대학교 법과대학을 장학생으로 졸업 후 POSCO 대졸 여사원 공채 1기로 입사하였으며, 종전선언반대국민운동 공동대표, 와이낫출판 대표를 거쳐 대통령비서실 행정관을 지냈다.
