전·현직 국민의힘 소속 동구 시·구의원 등 정치권에 이어 불교계, 문화예술계 등 동구 각계각층으로 지지 바람이 확산되는 분위기다. 

28일 국가무형문화재 제55호 엄태조 소목장을 비롯한 동구 문화예술계 원로들이 강대식 예비후보 선거사무실을 방문해 “동구 발전을 이끌 적임자는 오직 검증된 일꾼 강대식”이라며 지지를 선언했다.

전날인 27일에는 아미사 덕현 주지스님을 비롯한 동구 불교계 종단대표들이 “동구의 내일을 이끌어 갈 수 있는 유일한 후보자는 강대식 국회의원”이라며 강 후보에 대한 지지를 호소했다.

이밖에 ‘대구시 주택관리사협회’와 ‘혁신도시 의료R&D 기업인협의회’도  강대식 예비후보에 대한 지지 의사를 밝혔다.

강대식 예비후보는 “각계각층의 자발적인 지지 선언에 큰 힘을 얻으면서도 한편으로는 막중한 책임감을 느낀다”며 “압도적인 경선 승리로 반드시 재선에 성공해 ‘동구의 천지개벽’을 이뤄내는 것으로 보답하겠다”고 말했다.
