대구시는 올여름 예상되는 극심한 폭염에 시민들이 즐길 수 있는 도심 속 강변 물놀이장을 금호강(하중도 주변)과 신천(대봉교 하류) 두 곳에 설치하고, 오는 15일부터 한 달간 무료로 운영한다고 밝혔다.

신천 물놀이장에는 연령대별로 안전하게 즐길 수 있는 유아풀과 청소년풀, 성인풀로 공간을 나누어 운영된다. 접근은 주차공간이 없는 만큼 대중교통(지하철 3호선 대봉교역, 버스 234, 304, 323, 509, 순환2-1)을 통해야 이용이 가능하다.
금호강 하중도 물놀이장도 올해 처음으로 개장된다. 하중도 주변 물놀이장은 기조성된 신천대로에서 하중도 진출입로와 주차장이 준비돼 있어 가족단위 이용자가 편리하게 이용 가능할 것으로 전망된다. 이곳에는 대형 물놀이 풀장 6개소와 유수풀, 파도풀 등 다양한 물놀이시설을 설치·운영할 계획이다.
대구시는 물놀이장 운영 시 입구에서 인원 관리를 위한 인원 계수기(손목밴드)를 도입하고, 코로나19 방역을 위한 체온계와 소독약 등을 비치하는 한편, 안전교육을 이수한 안전요원 배치와 일 3회 이상 수질을 점검하는 등 철저한 안전 및 방역관리를 통해 안전하고 쾌적한 물놀이장을 이용할 수 있도록 운영할 계획이다.
특히 개장일에는 당일 방문 아동들에게 선착순으로 물놀이용품(물총, 부채 등)을 지급하고, 행사 기간 중에는 청라수(병입수돗물)와 기타 홍보 물품들을 무료로 제공할 예정이다.
