올해로 7회차를 맞는 'GIF 2022’는 전세계 청년 혁신가 및 스타트업(초기창업기업)이 참가하여 펼치는 ICT(ABB)분야 국내 최대 규모의 혁신 창업 아이디어 경진대회다.

 ‘START UP! CHANGE UP!’이라는 슬로건 아래 루키리그(청소년), 유스리그(대학생·청년), 케이리그(3년 이내 국내 스타트업), 월드리그(7년 이내 해외 스타트업)로 나누어 진행된다. 

수상자들에게는 총 상금 1억원과 장관상(기획재정부, 교육부, 과학기술정보통신부, 중소벤처기업부) 및 대구시장상 등의 수상과 글로벌 스타트업 대회 참가 등의 특전이 주어진다.

개막행사에서는 이스라엘 헤츠키 아리엘리 글로벌 엑셀런스 회장, 국양 DGIST 총장, 김영덕 은행권청년창업재단(디캠프) 대표가 나와 ‘ICT 분야 청년 스타트업 성공전략 및 글로벌 진출방안’을 주제로 청년들과 직접 소통하는 청년 토크콘서트가 진행되며 유튜브로도 생중계될 예정이다.

특히 올해에는 해외 참가자를 대상으로 한 월드리그를 신설하고, 외국어 지원 통역부스 설치, 온라인 개최 확대 등 글로벌 행사로 자리매김할 수 있도록 지원을 강화함에 따라 대만, 인도, 이스라엘, 태국, 말레이시아 등 해외 스타트업 70여 개사가 월드리그에 접수, 역대 최대 규모의 해외 참가팀이 참가한다. 

또 과학기술 분야 인재양성과 스타트업 강국인 이스라엘의 헤츠키 아리엘리 글로벌 엑설런스 회장이 기조강연자로 나서 ‘청년 스타트업 인재 양성을 위한 이스라엘 창의영재 융합 교육’에 대해 이야기한다. 

초청강연으로 이스라엘 보안(오펜시브 시큐리티)업체 SSD 랩스 아비람 제닉 대표의 ‘한국 스타트업의 해외진출전략’, 은행권청년창업재단(디캠프) 김영덕 대표의 북콘서트(재미있는 스타트업 이야기) 등이 진행된다.

기업 세션으로 이수그룹에서 기업·제품 홍보, 투자·채용 상담이, 글로벌 세션으로 대만 엑셀러레이터 아시아브릿지가 대구시-대만 가오슝시 스타트업 컨퍼런스가 진행된다. 

홍준표 대구시장은 “세상을 바꾸는 혁신의 시작은 작은 아이디어로부터 출발한다.”며 “우수 스타트업을 많이 발굴하고, 창업생태계 혁신과 투자활성화로 수도권을 능가하는 미래 디지털 혁신 거점 중심도시로 거듭나도록 노력하겠다 ”고 밝혔다.
