박 전 원장은 28일 대구 한영아트센터에서 안보 특강 차 대구를 방문한 자리에서 이같이 밝히면서 “공천에서 칼질을 당한 사람들, (지금 상황이라면) 이준석 전 대표나 유승민 전 의원, 나경원 전 부위원장 등이 보수 신당을 창당할 가능성이 아주 높다”면서 “이 사람들이 만든 보수당이 결국은 국민의힘을 제치고 보수 1당이 될 것”.이라고 전망했다.
그러면서 윤석열 대통령을 향해 “어떤 대통령, 어느 나라의 대통령이 전당대회(당대표) 선거에 나오지 못하도록 이처럼 칼질과 총질을 난사하는가. 정치를 오랫동안 해온 나지만 이런 대통령은 윤 대통령이 처음”이라고 비꼬았다.
그는 국민의힘이 분열될 것이라는 주장의 또다른 원인으로 한동훈 장관을 꼬집었다. 그는 “지그 국민의힘을 비롯한 보수진영 일각에서 하는 행태 중 하나가 한동훈을 키우고 있는 것”이라며 “그렇게될 경우, 대권을 꿈꾸고 있는 홍준표 대구시장이 가만히 있겠나. 오세훈 서울시장, 원희룡 장관, 안철수 의원이 가만히 있겠나. 결국은 보수, 국민의힘은 분열되게 되어 있다”고 거듭 강조했다.

박 전 원장은 “윤 대통령이 자신은 절대로 정치에 개입하지 않겠다고 누누이 강조해왔는데, 지금 하는 것을 보면 순 거짓말에 지나지 않는다. 대통령이 거짓말을 하면 국민은 누구를 믿고 국정을 맡기나. 도개체 누구를 믿어야 하느냐”고 말했다. 그러면서 “DJ였다면 이렇게 국정을 이끌지 않았을 거다. 여당이든 야당이든 일 할때는 일하고 싸울 때는 싸우면서 대화도 하고 풀어나가는 게 정치다. 지금은 여.야간 대화가 전혀 없다. 취임 8개월이 지나는데 윤 대통령은 야당과 말을 하지 않고 있다. 그러면서 협조를 이야기하면 안된다”고 덧붙였다.
박 전 원장은 덧붙여 “요즘 김건희 여사가 국민의힘 여성 의원들을 초청하는 것을 보면 아마도 국민의힘에 무슨 일이 있구나. 곧 전당대회가 있구나라는 연상할 수 있다”며 김 여사의 전당대회 개입 의혹을 제기했다.
한편, 박 전 원장은 이날 특강을 마친 뒤에는 대구의 민심 1번지 서문시장을 찾아 상인들을 만났다.
