더불어민주당 대선주자인 이재명 후보가 5일 대선 후보로 선출된 이후 첫 지방일정으로 대구를 찾았다.

이날 대구를 찾은 이재명 후보는 한 청년과의 대화에 이어 경북대 학생들을 만나며 젊은 세대와의 소통에 힘을 쏟았다.

또 보수 정치인의 필수 방문코스로 알려진 서문시장을 찾아 시민들과 소통하며 눈길을 끌었다.

이재명 후보의 방문에 서문시장에는 인파가 몰려들었고 곳곳에서 환영의 목소리와 비판의 목소리가 뒤섞여 어지러운 풍경을 연출했다.

한편 이날 국민의힘에서는 2022년 대선주자로 윤석열 후보가 최종 선출되었다. 대구에서 이 소식을 접한 이재명 후보는 “축하한다. 선의의 경쟁으로 축제의 장을 만들자”며 입장을 전했다.
