이날 대구 중구 한일극장 앞에서는 시민 약 2백 명이 모여 대형 TV를 통해 헌법재판소의 상황을 생중계로 시청했다.

오전 11시 22분, 헌재가 피청구인 대통령 윤석열을 파면한다고 선언하자 시민들은 함성을 지르며 서로를 얼싸안았다. 일부 시민은 기쁨의 눈물을 흘리기도 했다.

바로 직후 윤석열 퇴진 대구시국회의는 입장발표 기자회견을 개최했다.

대구시민단체연대회의 장지혁 운영위원장은 “국민이 승리했다”며 “그러나 파면이 끝이 아니라 아직 처벌과 재발방지 대책 등 수많은 과제들이 여전히 남아있다”고 말했다.

그러면서 “다시는 이런 일이 일어나지 않도록 반란 일당들을 처벌하고 역사의 교훈을 바로 새겨 제대로 된 민주주의를 이룩할 수 있도록 끝까지 노력해야한다”고 강조했다.

상임대표 이길우 민주노총 대구지부 본부장은 “3월 8일 윤석열이 석방되고 헌재 판결이 늦어지면서 많은 불안과 우려도 있었다”며 “그러나 오늘 8대 0의 헌재 판결을 받은 것은 모두 대구시민들의 뜻이 있었기 때문이다”고 말했다.

그러면서 “끝난 투쟁이라고 이야기하면 안된다”며 “더 이상 이 사회가 갈등으로 양극화되는 것이 아니라 모두가 차별받지 않고 당당한 세상이 될 수 있도록 대구 시민들이 나서서 함께 추진하자”고 목소리를 높였다.
