이번 특별위원회는 지방자치법 제64조에 따라 설치되며, 산불 피해 주민들의 고통을 덜고 복구에 실질적인 도움이 될 수 있도록 제도적 보완과 효과적인 정책 수립을 목표로 하고 있다.

위원장에는 이재갑 의원이, 부위원장에는 김순중 의원이 선출됐다. 이들과 함께 권기익, 손광영, 임태섭, 정복순, 김창현 의원이 위원으로 활동하게 되며, 위원회는 2025년 10월 31일까지 약 1년 반 동안 활동할 예정이다.

특별위원회는 ▲이재민 생계 및 주거안정 지원 ▲폐기물 처리 등 직접적인 복구 대책 ▲손해배상 및 위로금의 현실화 방안 ▲침체된 지역경제 회복과 관광활성화 등 산불피해 전반에 대한 대책을 심층적으로 다룰 계획이다.

이재갑 위원장은 “이번 산불로 삶의 터전을 잃은 시민들께 깊은 위로를 전한다”며, “현장의 목소리를 시정에 반영하고 피해 회복에 실질적인 도움이 될 수 있도록 위원회가 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 안동시는 이번 산불로 산림과 주택, 농경지 등에 큰 피해를 입었으며, 피해 주민들에 대한 복구와 지원이 시급한 과제로 떠오르고 있다.
