【브레이크뉴스 경산】이성현 기자=대구대학교 축구부 학생들이 지난 8월 12일 오전 기숙사 앞에서 쓰러진 환경미화원을 신속하게 응급조치해 생명을 구한 사실이 알려져 귀감이 되고 있다.

대구대에 따르면 사고는 오전 7시 40분경 대구대 경산캠퍼스 국제관(기숙사) 앞에서 발생했다. 쓰레기 수거 작업 중이던 한 환경미화원이 갑자기 쓰러지며 머리를 다쳐 출혈이 발생했으나, 마침 현장을 지나던 축구부 학생들이 이를 발견하고 119에 신고, 즉시 응급조치를 실시했다.

학생들은 구급대 도착 전까지 출혈 부위를 지혈하고 환자의 상태를 안정시키며 교직원과 협력했다. 8시경 도착한 119 구급대에 의해 추가 응급조치를 받은 환경미화원은 상태가 호전돼 지역 병원으로 이송, 치료 후 현재 퇴원했다.

대구대는 8월 18일 학생들의 신속한 대응을 격려하기 위해 박순진 총장 주관으로 자리를 마련하고, 축구부 학생들에게 총장 모범상을 수여했다. 행사에는 환경미화원을 구한 조승현·최민준·권기성 학생, 오진희 학생처장, 이태홍 축구부 감독 등이 참석했다.

조승현 학생(스포츠레저학과 3학년)은 “누구든 달려가 응급조치를 했을 것”이라며 “무엇보다 환경미화원 분이 건강을 회복해 다행”이라고 소감을 밝혔다. 사고를 당한 환경미화원도 “학생들의 빠른 대응과 따뜻한 마음 덕분에 무사히 치료받았다”며 감사의 뜻을 전했다.

박순진 총장은 “학생들의 침착하고 신속한 대응이 큰 사고를 막았다”며 “위기 상황에서 보여준 용기와 선행에 진심으로 박수를 보내며, 그 용기를 바탕으로 그라운드에서도 멋진 활약을 기대한다”고 말했다.

Daegu University Soccer Team Students Save Life of Collapsed Sanitation Worker with Quick First Aid

Daegu University soccer team students have become a model for their swift first aid efforts to save the life of a collapsed sanitation worker in front of a dormitory on the morning of August 12th.

The accident occurred around 7:40 a.m. in front of the International Hall (dormitory) on Daegu University's Gyeongsan Campus. A sanitation worker, who was collecting trash, suddenly collapsed, suffered a head injury, and began bleeding. Soccer team members passing by noticed the incident, called 911, and immediately administered first aid.

The students controlled the bleeding, stabilized the patient, and cooperated with faculty and staff until the ambulance arrived. After receiving additional first aid from the 911 ambulance, the sanitation worker's condition improved and he was transported to a local hospital. He has since been discharged.

On August 18th, President Park Soon-jin hosted an event to encourage students' swift response and presented the President's Model Scholarship to the soccer team. The event was attended by students Cho Seung-hyun, Choi Min-jun, and Kwon Ki-seong, who saved the street cleaner; Dean of Student Affairs Oh Jin-hee; and soccer coach Lee Tae-hong.

Cho Seung-hyun (junior, Department of Sports and Leisure Studies) said, "Anyone would have rushed to the scene and administered first aid," adding, "I'm most relieved that the street cleaner has recovered." The injured street cleaner also expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thanks to the students' quick response and warm hearts, I was able to receive treatment safely."

President Park Soon-jin stated, "The students' calm and swift response prevented a major accident. I sincerely applaud their courage and good deeds in a crisis situation, and I look forward to their continued success on the field."
