전국대학원장협의회는 전국 154개 대학원이 소속된 협의체로, 대학원 교육과 연구 발전을 위한 정책 협의와 국내외 대학원 간 교류 활성화를 목적으로 1973년 설립됐다.
최 원장은 회장 선출 소감에서 “AI‧디지털 시대의 변화에 대응해 대학원 교육이 유연하게 변화할 수 있도록 정부와 긴밀히 협력하겠다”며 “지역 중심 고등교육정책인 RISE(지역혁신대학지원체계) 사업이 정착할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.
또한 “오는 6월 발표 예정인 새 정부 고등교육정책에 대학원 교육 혁신과 지원 방안이 포함되도록 건의하겠다”고 말했다.
최철영 원장은 현재 대구경북 대학원장협의회 회장으로도 활동 중이다.

Daegu University General Graduate School Dean Choi Cheol-young was elected as the 58th Chairman of the National Council of Graduate School Deans. The term of office is one year starting May 1.
The National Council of Graduate School Deans is a consultative body of 154 graduate schools nationwide, and was established in 1973 for the purpose of discussing policies for the development of graduate school education and research and promoting exchanges between domestic and international graduate schools.
In his remarks on being elected as chairman, Dean Choi stated, “I will work closely with the government so that graduate school education can flexibly change in response to changes in the AI and digital era,” and “I will actively support the establishment of the RISE (Regional Innovation University Support System), a regional higher education policy.”
He also said, “I will suggest that the new government’s higher education policy, scheduled to be announced in June, include measures to innovate and support graduate school education.”
Dean Choi Cheol-young is currently serving as the Chairman of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Graduate School Deans Association.
