수현 학생은 지난 2021년 교사가 되기 위한 꿈을 안고 대구대 사범대학 생물교육과에 입학했다. 하지만 입학과 동시에 안 좋은 소식이 날아들었다. 건강 검진을 받던 중 ‘가족성 선종성 용종증’ 진단을 받게 된 것.

이 질병은 대장이나 직장에 수백에서 수천 개의 선종이 생기는 질환으로, 20여 년 전 수현 학생의 아버지도 같은 병으로 오랜 기간 투병을 해 왔던 병이었다.
