【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구대학교(총장 박순진)가 교육부 국립국제교육원이 주관하는 '2026~2028 정부초청 외국인 장학생(GKS) 산학협력(UIC) 과정' 운영 대학에 최종 선정됐다.

이번 선정으로 대구대는 전자전기공학부를 중심으로 세계 각국의 우수 외국인 유학생을 선발해, 산업 현장에 즉시 투입 가능한 실무형 글로벌 인재로 양성하는 산학협력 교육과정을 본격 운영하게 된다.

GKS(Global Korea Scholarship)는 우리 정부가 해외 인재를 국내 대학으로 초청해 교육 기회를 제공하는 대표적인 장학 프로그램이다.

이 중 UIC(University Industry Cooperation) 과정은 대학과 산업계가 협력해 실무 중심의 맞춤형 교육을 제공하는 트랙으로, 외국인 전문 인력 양성을 목표로 한다.

대구대는 이번 프로그램을 통해 2026년부터 3년간 매년 3명의 장학생을 선발한다. 학생들은 1년간 한국어 연수를 이수한 뒤, 전자전기공학부에서 4년간 학사 과정을 밟는다.

전자전기공학부는 반도체 특화 트랙과 부트캠프, ICT 기반 첨단 커리큘럼, 미국 박사 출신 교수진의 전공 영어강의, 기업 연계 현장실습 및 캡스톤디자인 등 국제 수준의 교육 환경을 갖추고 있다.

또한 몽골을 비롯한 중앙아시아 주요 교육기관과의 교류 협정을 통해 국제 학생 유치 기반을 넓혀왔으며, 유학생의 국내 정착과 취업까지 연계되는 다층적 지원체계도 마련하고 있다.

정유정 전자전기공학부장은 “축적된 산학협력 경험과 글로벌 ICT 역량을 바탕으로 외국인 장학생들이 산업 현장에서 실질적인 역량을 발휘할 수 있도록 전폭 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

강수태 국제처장은 “이번 선정은 대구대의 국제화 전략과 실무 중심 교육모델이 국가적으로 인정받은 결과”라며 “유학생의 선발부터 졸업 후 정착까지 전 주기에 걸친 지원을 강화해 나가겠다”고 전했다.

Among these, the UIC (University Industry Cooperation) program is a track that provides customized education centered on practical work through cooperation between universities and industries, and aims to foster foreign professional manpower.

Through this program, Daegu University will select three scholarship students every year for three years starting in 2026. After completing one year of Korean language training, students will complete a four-year bachelor's degree program in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has a world-class educational environment with a semiconductor-specialized track, boot camps, cutting-edge ICT-based curriculum, specialized English lectures by professors with PhDs in the United States, and on-site training and capstone design in collaboration with companies.

In addition, the department has expanded its base for attracting international students through exchange agreements with major educational institutions in Central Asia, including Mongolia, and is also establishing a multi-layered support system that links international students’ settlement in Korea and employment.

Dean of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Jeong Yu-jeong said, “Based on our accumulated experience in industry-academia cooperation and global ICT capabilities, we will fully support international scholarship students so that they can demonstrate their practical capabilities in industrial settings.”

Director of the Office of International Affairs Kang Soo-tae said, “This selection is the result of national recognition of Daegu University’s internationalization strategy and practice-oriented education model,” and added, “We will strengthen support throughout the entire cycle from the selection of international students to their settlement after graduation.”
