대구 남부경찰서에 따르면, 지난 9일 오후 9시 47분쯤 해당 학교 교사가 ‘학교 대표 계정으로 폭발물 협박 메일이 도착했다’고 경찰에 신고했다. 교사는 학교 메일함에서 협박 메일을 확인한 직후 즉시 경찰에 연락한 것으로 알려졌다.
신고를 받은 경찰과 소방당국은 폭발물 처리반을 포함한 인력을 급히 투입해 10일 오전 2시까지 교내 곳곳을 샅샅이 수색했다. 하지만 의심스러운 물체는 결국 발견되지 않았다. 수색이 마무리된 뒤 학교 측은 다음날 학생들을 정상적으로 등교시켰다.
이 학교는 지난달 10일에도 ‘사제 폭발물을 설치했다. 하교 후 터뜨리겠다’는 내용의 협박 메일을 받은 일이 있다. 당시 재학생 1200여 명이 귀가 조치됐지만, 실제 폭발물은 나오지 않았다.
경찰 조사 결과, 두 사건 모두 우회 인터넷주소(IP)를 이용해 메일이 발송된 것으로 파악됐다. 메일 내용 역시 크게 다르지 않은 것으로 확인됐다. 지난달 사건 당시 메일 발송 계정의 명의자는 이 학교 자퇴생이었으나, 해당 학생은 “계정이 해킹당했다”며 범행을 부인해왔으며, 경찰도 아직 혐의를 특정하지 못했다.
