과학기술정보통신부와 연구개발특구진흥재단이 공동으로 추진하는 ‘연구개발특구 기술사업화대상’은 연구개발특구 내 공공기술 사업화의 성공 사례를 발굴하고, 과학기술 혁신 성과 확산을 위해 매년 수여되는 상이다.

국립금오공대 산학협력단은 이번 시상에서 ‘사업화지원 부문’에 선정돼 수상의 영예를 안았다. 기술사업화대상은 ▲사업화지원 부문(공공기술 이전·중개·사업화 지원)과 ▲기술이전사업화 부문(기술이전 및 사업화를 통한 성과 창출)으로 나뉘어, 공공기술사업화 생태계 조성에 기여한 개인과 기관·단체를 대상으로 수여된다.

국립금오공대 산학협력단은 지역 산·학·연 협력을 기반으로 공공기술 이전과 사업화 연계를 지속적으로 강화해 왔으며, 기업 수요에 기반한 기술 매칭과 체계적인 후속 지원을 통해 공공기술이 실제 산업 현장에서 성과로 이어지도록 기여한 점을 높이 평가받았다.

이와 함께 경북 구미 강소연구개발특구의 첨단기술기업 1호인 ㈜디에이치티(대표 정성욱)도 ‘기술이전사업화 부문’에서 대상(과학기술정보통신부 장관상)을 수상하며 기술사업화 성과를 인정받았다.

권오형 국립금오공대 산학협력단장은 “이번 수상은 대학이 보유한 기술과 지역 산업의 수요를 정교하게 연결해 공공기술이 실질적인 사업화 성과로 이어지도록 노력해온 결과”라며 “앞으로도 기업, 연구자, 지역 혁신기관과의 협력을 더욱 강화해 기술사업화 성과 확산과 지역 산업 경쟁력 제고에 기여하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편 국립금오공대는 2020년 경북 구미 강소연구개발특구 기술핵심기관으로 선정된 이후, 2023~2024년 2년 연속 과학기술정보통신부 강소특구 연차평가에서 최우수 특구로 지정됐다. 이어 2025년 종합평가에서도 후속 특화발전 지원의 타당성을 인정받아 1단계 사업 종료 후 향후 5년간 2단계 사업에 돌입할 예정이다.

‘2025 연구개발특구 기술사업화대상’ 시상식은 지난 1월 19일 대전 호텔 ICC에서 열린 연구개발특구진흥재단 신년인사회 행사와 함께 진행됐다.

The R&D Special Zone Technology Commercialization Awards, jointly organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the R&D Special Zone Promotion Foundation, are presented annually to identify successful cases of public technology commercialization within R&D special zones and to promote the dissemination of scientific and technological innovation achievements.

The Kumoh National Institute of Technology Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation was honored at this year's awards ceremony for its selection in the Commercialization Support category. The Technology Commercialization Awards are divided into two categories: the Commercialization Support category (support for public technology transfer, brokerage, and commercialization) and the Technology Transfer and Commercialization category (creating outcomes through technology transfer and commercialization). The awards recognize individuals, organizations, and groups that have contributed to the development of the public technology commercialization ecosystem.

The Kumoh National Institute of Technology's Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation has consistently strengthened public technology transfer and commercialization based on regional industry-academia-research collaboration. Its contributions to real-world industrial outcomes through technology matching based on corporate needs and systematic follow-up support have been highly recognized.

Furthermore, DHT (CEO Jeong Seong-wook), the first high-tech company in the Gumi Gangsogong R&D Special Zone in Gyeongbuk Province, also won the grand prize (Minister of Science and ICT Award) in the "Technology Transfer and Commercialization" category, recognizing its achievements in technology commercialization.

Kwon Oh-hyung, Director of the Kumoh National Institute of Technology's Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, stated, "This award is a testament to our efforts to precisely connect the university's technology with local industry needs, ensuring that public technology leads to tangible commercialization outcomes. We will continue to strengthen collaboration with companies, researchers, and local innovation organizations to contribute to the spread of technology commercialization outcomes and the enhancement of regional industrial competitiveness."

Meanwhile, Kumoh National Institute of Technology (KIT) was selected as a technology core institution for the Gumi Research and Development Special Zone in Gyeongbuk Province in 2020 and subsequently ranked as the best special zone in the Ministry of Science and ICT's annual evaluation of special zones for two consecutive years, from 2023 to 2024. Following the 2025 comprehensive evaluation, the KIT was recognized as worthy of follow-up specialized development support, and Phase 2 of the project is scheduled to commence over the next five years following the completion of Phase 1.

The "2025 Research and Development Special Zone Technology Commercialization Awards" ceremony was held on January 19th at the Daejeon Hotel ICC, in conjunction with the R&D Special Zone Promotion Foundation's New Year's reception.
