의료융합실험실(연구책임자 김한준 바이오메디컬공학과 교수)은 2024년 하반기 인증을 받은 이후 2024년 하반기부터 2025년 상반기까지 인증 연구실 가운데 최우수 연구실로 선정됐다. 이를 통해 대학의 체계적인 연구실 안전관리 시스템이 대외적으로 인정받았다는 평가다.

이번에 신규 인증을 받은 연구실은 나노재료공정실험실(연구책임자 이현권 재료공학부 교수)과 창의생산시스템연구실(연구책임자 이길용 기계공학부 교수)이다. 두 연구실은 안전환경 시스템, 안전활동 수준, 안전의식도 등 엄격한 평가 기준을 충족해 인증을 획득했다.

과학기술정보통신부가 주관하는 ‘안전관리 우수연구실 인증제’는 전문가 심사를 통해 안전관리 수준과 활동이 우수한 연구실에 인증을 부여하는 제도다. △안전환경 시스템 △안전환경 활동 수준 △안전의식도 등 3개 분야 27개 항목에 대한 종합 평가를 통과해야 한다.

국립금오공과대학교는 2015년 연구실 안전 전담 부서인 안전팀을 신설한 이후 2016년부터 지속적으로 우수연구실 인증을 획득해 왔다. 특히 2024년부터는 교수업적평가 가점, 포상금, 총장 표창 등 자체 인센티브 제도를 도입해 연구 현장의 자율적 참여를 유도하고 안전 중심 연구 문화를 강화하고 있다.

대학은 2월 10일 교내 대회의실에서 인증 표창 수여식을 열고 연구실 책임자와 소속 학생들을 격려했다.

김상호 총장은 “의료융합실험실의 장관 표창과 신규 연구실 인증은 안전한 연구 환경 조성을 위해 구성원 모두가 함께 노력한 성과”라며 “연구자들이 안심하고 혁신적 연구에 전념할 수 있도록 안전관리 인프라를 지속 확충하고, 우수 모델을 확산해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Kumoh National Institute of Technology's Medical Convergence Laboratory Selected as "Best Safety Management Laboratory"

Kumoh National Institute of Technology (President Kim Sang-ho)'s Medical Convergence Laboratory was selected as the "Best Safety Management Laboratory" and received a commendation from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT. Additionally, two on-campus laboratories received new certification as "2025-3 Outstanding Safety Management Laboratory" recipients.

The Medical Convergence Laboratory (Principal Investigator: Professor Kim Han-jun, Department of Biomedical Engineering) received certification in the second half of 2024 and was selected as the best laboratory among certified laboratories from the second half of 2024 to the first half of 2025. This recognition demonstrates the university's systematic laboratory safety management system's recognition.

The newly certified laboratories are the Nanomaterial Processing Laboratory (Principal Investigator: Professor Lee Hyun-kwon, Department of Materials Science and Engineering) and the Creative Manufacturing Systems Laboratory (Principal Investigator: Professor Lee Gil-yong, Department of Mechanical Engineering). Both laboratories received certification after meeting rigorous evaluation criteria, including safety management systems, safety activity levels, and safety awareness.

The "Excellent Safety Management Laboratory Certification System," hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, certifies laboratories with excellent safety management practices and activities through expert review. Recipients must pass a comprehensive evaluation of 27 items across three categories: safety management systems, safety activity levels, and safety awareness.

Kumoh National Institute of Technology (KIT) established a dedicated safety team in 2015, and has consistently received excellent laboratory certification since 2016. Starting in 2024, the university will introduce its own incentive system, including faculty performance evaluation points, awards, and presidential commendations, to encourage voluntary participation and strengthen a safety-centered research culture.

On February 10, the university held a certification ceremony in the main conference room on campus to commend the laboratory directors and students.

President Kim Sang-ho stated, “The Minister’s Award for the Medical Convergence Laboratory and the new laboratory certification are the result of the combined efforts of all members to create a safe research environment.” He added, “We will continue to expand our safety management infrastructure and spread excellent models so that researchers can focus on innovative research with peace of mind.”
