【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=한국사학진흥재단(이사장 이하운, 이하 재단)은 문화체육관광부와 국립국어원이 주관한 ‘2025년 공공기관 등의 공문서 평가’에서 최고등급인 ‘우수’를 달성했다고 10일 밝혔다.

이번 평가는 '국어기본법' 제14조에 근거해 공공기관이 작성하는 보도자료 등 공문서에서 쉽고 바른 우리말 사용을 촉진하기 위해 실시됐다. 특히 기존 일부 공공기관(118개)을 대상으로 진행되던 평가를 올해 처음으로 전체 공공기관 331개로 확대해 시행했다.

평가는 시·도교육청 17곳과 공공기관 331곳을 대상으로 지난해 3월부터 11월까지 진행됐다. 각 기관의 보도자료를 중심으로 우리말로 대체 가능한 외래어 사용 빈도, 어문 규범 오류, 비문법적 표현 사용 여부 등을 ‘용이성’과 ‘정확성’ 기준에 따라 종합적으로 평가했다.

평가 결과는 우수·보통·미흡 등 3개 등급으로 구분됐으며, 전체 기관 가운데 우수 61곳(20%), 보통 213곳(70%), 미흡 30곳(10%)으로 집계됐다. 재단은 이 가운데 최고등급인 ‘우수’ 등급을 받았다.

재단은 그동안 국민이 이해하기 쉬운 용어와 올바른 문장을 사용할 수 있도록 보도자료 작성법 등 내부 교육을 실시하고, 불필요한 외래어 사용을 줄이며 어문 규범을 준수하기 위한 노력을 지속해왔다.

이하운 이사장은 “재단 전 직원이 올바른 공공언어 사용 문화를 만들기 위해 노력한 결과”라며 “공문서는 국민과 문자로 소통하는 중요한 수단인 만큼 앞으로도 고등교육 정책을 지원하는 기관으로서 국민이 정책을 쉽게 이해하고 신뢰할 수 있도록 바른 공공언어 사용에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

The Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Korean Studies (Chairman Lee Ha-woon, hereinafter referred to as the Foundation) announced on the 10th that it achieved the highest rating of "Excellent" in the "2025 Public Institution Document Evaluation," conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Institute of the Korean Language.

The evaluation, conducted from March to November of last year, targeted 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education and 331 public institutions. Focusing on press releases from each institution, the evaluation comprehensively assessed the frequency of use of loanwords that can be replaced with Korean words, errors in grammatical conventions, and the use of ungrammatical expressions, based on criteria such as "ease of use" and "accuracy."

The evaluation results were divided into three grades: excellent, average, and poor. Of all institutions, 61 (20%) were excellent, 213 (70%) average, and 30 (10%) poor. The foundation received the highest grade, "Excellent."

The foundation has consistently provided internal training, including on press release writing techniques, to ensure the use of easily understandable terminology and correct sentence structure. Furthermore, the foundation has consistently strived to reduce unnecessary foreign language use and adhere to linguistic norms.

Chairman Lee Ha-woon stated, "This is the result of the efforts of all foundation employees to foster a culture of proper public language usage. Official documents are a crucial means of written communication with the public. As an institution that supports higher education policies, we will continue to do our best to use proper public language so that the public can easily understand and trust our policies."
