이번 사업은 치매에 대한 올바른 이해 교육과 치매 환자 및 가족을 돕는 ‘치매 파트너’ 양성, 실천 중심의 치매 예방 수칙 안내 등을 통해 지역 주민의 치매 인식을 높이고 예방 실천 문화를 확산하기 위해 마련됐다.
또한 복지관을 비롯해 유동 인구가 많은 지역과 각종 지역 행사 현장에서 홍보 캠페인을 진행하고, 시 전광판을 활용한 홍보 활동도 병행해 치매에 대한 부정적 인식을 개선하고 사회적 공감대를 확대할 계획이다.
이를 통해 치매 환자와 가족이 지역사회에서 안심하고 생활할 수 있는 치매 친화적 환경을 조성한다는 방침이다.
안병숙 경산시 보건소장은 “치매는 개인이나 가족만의 문제가 아니라 지역사회가 함께 관심을 가져야 할 과제”라며 “다양한 치매 인식 개선 사업을 통해 치매 환자와 가족이 안심하고 행복하게 생활할 수 있는 경산시를 만들어 가겠다”고 말했다.
