임종식 경북교육감 예비후보가 선거사무소에서 개소식을 개최하고 ‘흔들림 없는 미래교육정책 추진’을 약속했다.  

임종식 예비후보는 현직교육감으로서 코로나19 확산에 따른 학교 방역 점검과 등교수업 지원, 교육격차 해소 등으로 인해 예비후보 등록이 늦어진 것으로 알려졌다.

지난달 30일 토요일 오후 3시 포항시 남구에서 열린 개소식에는 류시문 경북적십자 회장, 김병관 전 경북교육위원회 의장, 김영문 선린대학교 총장을 비롯한 교육 관계자 및 도민 2천 여명이 참석해 성황을 이루었다.

이날 임종식 예비후보는 “교육감은 아이들의 미래를 책임지는 사람이며 동시에 도민, 학부모, 교육가족들의 현재를 보살펴야 하는 막중한 과제를 부여받은 사람이다. 그래서 검증된 사람이 필요하다”고 강조했다. 

그러면서 자신이 40년간 경북에서 교사, 교감, 교장, 장학사, 연수원장, 교육정책국장 등을 두루 거치면서 누구보다 현장 문제를 정확히 알고 그 해결책을 가지고 있다는 점과 지난 4년간 현직 교육감으로서 미래교육을 선도하는 변화를 이끌어본 검증된 후보임을 강조하며 출마 배경 설명과 함께 도민들의 지지와 성원을 부탁했다.
