우 총장은 오는 9월 1일부터 2024년 7월 14일까지의 임기 동안 윤석열 정부의 국정목표인 '대한민국 어디서나 살기 좋은 지방시대' 실현을 위해 대통령 자문 역할을 수행하며 대구경북 등 지역에서 관심을 모으는 2차 공공기관 이전과 지방대학 생존을 위한 정책 추진에도 힘을 쏟을 예정이다.
